So besides my kids doing the local Summer Reading program at the Library, I have been enjoying sneaking in a few minutes here and there endulging in a good novel. I read the Wednesday Letters by Jason F. Wright and also Sister's of the Quilt Book 1, 2 and 3. Just finished the third one this morning. :) But now I don't have anything else lined up on my reading list. I just saw the preview for The Time Traveler's Wife and would love to read that one before I see the movie - looks good. What's on your bedside table or your reading list? Do you have a favorite? I would love to hear your suggestions! Leave a comment and maybe everyone will find a new good book!

I am big into Christian Fiction. For Family Stories I read anyhting by Karen Kingsbury. For Mystery I love Terri Blackstock and Dee Henderson. For Historical Christian Fiction I live Tracie Peterson. My next book I am looking forward to is Take Two by Karen Kingsbury. The second book iin a new seris she has written.

Now, those are all books I have read, and I have about 30 more that I want to read. ;)
xo
Thanks Shealynn - I have read The Hunger games too and LOVED that book! can't wait for the next one to come out!
ReplyDeletePlease don't get discouraged by the title but my all time favorite book is by Laurie Notaro, There's a slight chance I might go to hell. It is hilarious and is about a woman that moves to a diff. state and enters a pagent to make friends. I won't tell you the rest because it is just that great. Hope this helps.

I really like the Smart Chick series by Mindy Starnes Clark. The books are "The trouble with Tulip", "Blind dates can be murder" and "Elementary my dear Watkins." They are about Jo Tulip who writes a household hints column and finds herself inadvertently solving murders on the side. They are very entertaining and read them over and over again.
ReplyDeleteI just finished reading the Time Travelers Wife half an hour ago! It's a great book, you should definitely read it
ReplyDeleteI am impressed you have read so much this summer! I still have not gotten my groove back with reading and having kids, I miss it.
ReplyDeleteMy husband read all the Elliot Pattison mysteries set in Tibet and got me to read them, I really enjoyed them. The Skull Mantra is the first in the series.
One I read a loooooong time ago is The Bone People by Keri Hulme. It's intense but good.
Definetly the Twilight Series. I just finished book# 3 and am searching for a good deal on the fourth one. I know it's written for Teenies, but it's still a good (maybe sometimes cheesy) read.
ReplyDeleteoh yes! I have read the twilight series. Book one is my fav. Did you see the movie? what did you think?
ReplyDeleteI watched the movie and didn't like it that much. I had not seen any previews or movie posters, etc. beforehand, so I was expecting a Johnny-Depp-kind of Edward. Unfortunately, that didn't happen ;-) It will be interesting to see what the second movie will be like. So far #1 is my favorite, too. Have to see what #4 holds in store.
ReplyDeleteOh Megan, I LOVE LOVE LOVE to read. I agree with Shelly on the Christian fiction. My favorite series is by Lauraine Snelling, The Red River of the North series. The first one is "An Untamed Land" and is about two couples who immigrate from Norway to North Dakota. There are six or seven in the series, so you don't have to leave these great characters. Then the kids grow up and there are series on them, too.
ReplyDeleteNon christian fiction I would recommend is "The Thin Woman" (I can't remember the author). It's about an English woman who will inherit an uncle's estate if she follows several criteria first. It's funny and there are several in this series, too. Detective type.
Thanks for the ideas, gotta go back to the library now! :)
Anything by Nicholas Sparks who wrote The Notebook. I have read 5 of his books so far this summer and loved them all! Message in a Bottle, and Dear John are particularly good!
ReplyDeleteI am an avid reader! Right now I am reading the 6th book in the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. They are historic Fantasy and super romance. My all time favorites are Jane Austin's. They always make me feel good and I always catch a smile on my face when I am reading one. A fun easy series are the No.1 Ladies Detective Agency. I just finished my first Tony Morrison book Paradise. She is good. I also love William Faulkner. I know I am all over the place. I read with my mood and my husband teaches literature so I read what his class is reading. Happy reading!!
ReplyDeleteTry Mary Kay Andrews .. she is a great ,fun, girlie light read. Try HISSY FITS . She has several and I read all of them last summer. A new one came out this summer called A FIXER UPPER. I just got it.
ReplyDeleteHave you read the Shopaholic Series? They are a light, fun, and quick read. I just finished Everyone is Beautiful by Katherine Ceneter. It is a pretty good one too.
ReplyDeleteI also really like the Alex Cross series by James Patterson. His Women's Murder Club series is also one that I read.
I'm a big fan of anything by Jodi Picoult or Nicholas Sparks.
