Tausha of Sassy Style Redesign and I met up by email and got to chatting. We realized we were relatively close in distance and of course had much in common. We decided to meet up and go she took me thrifting to some of regular places.
(here we are in the middle of the store. Gotta love those camera held at arms lengths shots right?)
We talked about our similar and different approaches to thrifting and which sections we liked to "hit" first. It was really fun to bounce ideas off each other of what items could be upcycled or transformed into.
Plus it's always great to have another pair of eyes searching for the must have item we are looking for! One thing I did learn is that Tausha has connections at each of her stores. I gotta get me some of those :)
Take a peek at our carts from the first shop:
(note: Mine is on the left and about level with the cart. Tausha's is on the right and definitely a HAZARD to customers passing by! ha ha ha She found what she was looking for!)
One of the pieces I bought that day was this darling little cage ($1.00 or less)
Not something I would normally pick up but my daughter has been saying she would love a cage hanging in her room with some "fake" birds in it to play with. So for the price and charm of it, I snatched it up!
A little spray paint, some shredded and crinkled book pages hot glued in the bottom and a couple of colorful birds from the $1.00 store.....
and I have 1 happy daughter and 2 new family "pets".
Did you thrift anything fun over the weekend? or what projects did you get done?

That turned out totally cute! I love the whimsical shape to it.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to go thrifting with a like-minded (and well-connected) pal! Love how the birdcage turned out!
ReplyDeleteAmazing what some spray-paint can do! Love the outcome.

Love the local thrift store. Which looks vaguely like the one near my house. The bird cage is so cute. How fun for you to shop with someone else.

ReplyDeleteYou are awesome! Your bird cage turned out so cute!! I would have never thought to use book pages as the filler for bottom. What a genius you are!
It was such a fun time! We definitely need to go again-this time we'll do lunch!
Look at you and your creativeness! Thanks for showing us what you can do with something that, at first, doesn't look like much. SO CUTE!
ReplyDeleteCute cage - I love the color you painted it.
ReplyDeleteI didn't find too much thrifty finds but have a good feeling about this week. I'm planning to go to a Goodwill Outlet for the first time EVER. I can't wait to see what it is all about first hand.
What fun! I did do a bit of thrifting over the weekend too:)
ReplyDeleteI love what you did with the birdcage!
You have an eye for things! I would have liked the cage, but not known what to do with it...so cute :)
