It's girlie, it's fun and it's a great way to swap out what's OLD to you and breathe some new life, color and style into your wardrobe!
Just last week I hosted an Accessory SWAP party! What's that you ask? In a nutshell: Have your friends go through their accessories - clean out any jewelry, handbags, hats, scarves, etc that they just don't use anymore. Have them wrap them up, bring them to your house on a specific day/time and swap them "white elephant style!" Everyone goes home with something new (new to them) and no one had to buy anything!
I set the mood/tone for my party with the invites. I created them to look like a bracelet, also giving them a peek at the color scheme for the party.....
The invites said this: (feel free to use it or change it to fit your party!)
The big Spring clean out is drawing near
Forget your house, think your wardrobe my dear
Accessories! That’s the perfect way
and exchanging them will make your day!
So clean out your baubles, scarves and rings
Totes, purses, hats and bling
Wrap it up, we’ll see you there!
Swap it for a new accessory to wear!

Now onto the decorating! This was my favorite part! I wanted to create a fun atmosphere, simply and inexpensively. This look can totally be replicated for little to no money. (love that!)
Balloons - Instead of helium I just bought 2 packs of balloons and used gravity and black tulle to hang them from the ceiling creating a "backwards" look for balloons but more of a teardrop feel for this party.
Paper - I used several sheets of scrapbook paper in pinks, black and white with different patterns. I cut out 2 different sized circles and sandwiched some clear fishing line in between and again, hung them from the ceiling around the room at varying lengths.
Lights - I wanted to create some fun lighting so I took 2 different large glass containers and stuffed white lights into them. Add a tissue paper pom pom on top and it's now a fun piece that shimmers.
(pssst - I reused my 3 LOVE trees from valentines day too)
(I lined the container with pink tissue paper for a different look before putting the lights in)
The finishing touches - I accessorized 2 dress forms...
placed some mirrors with color coordinating frames on tables and around the room....
A little tulle around the lamp shade even to make it more girlie....
and 1 of my favorite things was this pink mirror topped round table. I set up a fun display of shoes and jewelry....
And what party is complete without a fountain! Mine was a water fountain for our drinks not a chocolate one....
Don't forget a cute table to hold all the wrapped accessories...
PARTY TIME!!! Just add friends! I had everyone draw a number. Person #1 started first by picking and opening a gift. Person #2 could either "steal" that gift or open one and so on. Gifts can only be stolen 3 times before they are "dead or frozen".
After a night of hanging out the with girls, laughing, chatting, snacking and oogling over all the great accessories everyone goes home with a fun new bauble or two! Like me!
I hope you throw an accessory SWAP party of our own! (psst. Invite me if you do! ha ha ha)
It's my new kick off to Spring tradition!
