I love moss. I have seen several projects over the years using moss and even a few home decor items in movies that I would love to have in my home! LOL
So earlier this year when I saw this at a thrift store I grabbed it!
It's large, it was cheap and I knew it would become a moss planter for me!
Fast forward a few (ahem) months later when I finally got around to creating the project. From a regular, orange, plastic planter....to this!
My family just looks at it strangely. LOL. Everyone I have showed it to really doesn't care for it.
WHAT???? Is it just me? Is it just one of those things that only I like? did I really "miss" and I just can't see it? help me out here! :) I guess it's all a matter of personal taste right?

I like the way it looks! I think it's a good idea.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry; it looks great!
ReplyDeleteGreat how you painted it white, so it lost its "plastic" look! Maybe, depending on the season, you could add something to the moss--but still keeping it clean and simple?
ReplyDeleteI like it! Maybe some wooden or rattan balls that you spray paint white, sitting on top of the moss? I like the clean look though!
ReplyDeleteI like it too, but I think it may need something to make it feel proportioned. Like one of those twiggy trees that has a fee leaves on it. But, I still love the urn being white and the moss!
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea and think it has potential...I've been wanting to do something similiar...I agree with the proportioning, maybe just make the moss ball higher and more round?
ReplyDeleteIt does feel like it is missing something on top. maybe a bird some eggs, balls, a plant ? ? ? Just a little bottom heavy. a large ball of moss might suit it better than the small hump. (please see this as constructive critism--I'm not trying to be mean and will never see your home so if you like it whatever--you just asked.)
ReplyDeleteI love it, but I especially love the buffet and it looks awesome! What a find!
ReplyDeletethanks for the comments :) I really like the twig idea or maybe building up the ball a bit more :)
ReplyDeleteThis is what I was thinking for the twiggy tree thing http://www.qualitysilks.com/content-product_info/product_id-3662/birch_branch_artificial_4.html
ReplyDeletebut another idea would be to make a two tier topiary with another ball of moss maybe.
Sorry, I'm with your family, moss just doesn't do it for me, probably because my front yard is covered with it, my roof and my sidewalks....really dislike it. But your container is wonderful :)
ReplyDeleteJust a quick note to let you know that a link to this post will be placed on CraftCrave today [19 Jun 01:00am GMT]. Thanks, Maria
ReplyDeleteI personally like the way it looks. It's nice and simple.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks lovely! I would be tempted to sit and stroke the moss it looks so lush :)
ReplyDeleteMy family, especially my husband don't get half the stuff I make, but it's ok cause I know other crafty minds will.
It looks nice. So far... Almost seems like it's missing something though. Just my opinion of course!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the idea to make it a bigger ball o' moss :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with Debbie...we have it on the roof and on our front walk and probably growing on the side of the house at the moment. :) Just move to Oregon and you can have all the moss you want!!!
ReplyDeleteps... LOVED your dance party idea - how fun!!
No, you didn't miss it. I have 3 moss terrariums in my house. Love them. :)
