Some Spring Inspiration with Pier 1

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Pier 1. All opinions are 100% mine.

Spring is taking it's sweet time to appear in my neck of the woods but when we have those good, warm, sunny days when we can be outside - WE ARE!!!  I've been prepping my patio a bit for summer fun and realizing it's need a little spruce up. To the rescue? - Pier 1
Furniture pieces always set the tone of an outdoor space. They either invite or leave you wanting for more. Besides seating, I think having adequate space for food, drinks and entertainment type of items is something I am always short on.
I LOVE this table from Pier 1
 (Sunset pier outdoor table)

Texture is HUGE this year in home decor. I love the look of this for outdoor but how fabulous would this be INDOORS too!?! The color, texture and warmth it brings to a space is perfect!

And what about COLOR? Spring and summer are always the times when color starts to pop up everywhere! Pier 1 was great outdoor dinnerware to wow your guests and punch up any event, even just your simply everyday dinner with your own family. They will love to eat off of these!

You know the crafter in me wants to take these plates and stack them up between candle sticks and create the cutest cake stand or cookie tiered platter, etc. They would be the talk of the backyard BBQ (wink, wink)

The other thing I love for the backyard patio is lighting! It sets the mood for the evening and/or invites your guests to stay longer, lounge and just enjoy. Pier 1 is right on trend with their wide selection of lanterns! Actually, they probably set the trend.

Lanterns have such extensive uses from being filled with candles, to home decor balls, grass and plants, decorative birds, moss, etc. Of course many of those uses are perfect for INSIDE your home which is why I love these - versatility. They work great for indoor and outdoor. Hanging or setting on a table, you will appreciate the ambience they bring to your space.

So head out and add something new to your outdoor space this Spring and Summer. You will love the change and the addition of a warmer more inviting, happy space!

psst! did you know Pier 1 hosts Pier 1 Tweetups? Get in the fun with one in your area!

I am a Pin head.......with pinterest

Have you heard of Pinterest? I am absolutely in love with it. It's a way to "pin" photos, projects, etc on a virtual bulletin board for later. AND see what others are pinning. You can repin, or pin something while blog hopping or shopping, etc.  It's very addicting and before you know it, time has quickly gone by. So I have had to set limits :)

For me it's a "file box" of ideas, colors, inspiration, a sugar rush for my eyes.
I recently came across some amazing photos were maps were used (a love of mine). How could I not share?

Enjoy!

Motherhood - have you captured it?

I once heard of a tradition that this woman would take a picture of herself with her children every year around Mother's day. Isn't that great? She has at least 1 great shot of her and her kids every year. What a fun way to look back on how everyone looked, dressed, hairdos, etc. (tee hee hee) You know what I am talking about.

In honor of Mother's day coming up in May, the theme for my I AM MORE photo blog is Motherhood! Share your Motherhood moments and/or what Motherhood looks like today. You could be all poised and perfect like June Clever or show us how it is - real life style! just capture this moment.

OR - share you and your mother. Maybe it's a past photo of when you were young, maybe it's current photo showing you are still her little girl but now all grown up.

I'd love to feature your "Motherhood' photos this month. Pop over to the I AM more blog to submit! :)

The key to taking pictures..... Giveaway

**Giveaway is now CLOSED**

I am really excited to offer this giveaway to you today! Katie Evans Photography is giving away their ebook to 3 lucky winners! The Key to taking pictures like a professional photographer

I have a soft spot for photography (hence the I AM blog). Photography is hobby and an outlet for me. I am always looking for ways to improve, learn and get better at it. We all want to capture the moments in life - in focus and in great lighting too I might add.

I have personally reviewed this ebook and it's GREAT! It's 72 pages (YES! 72) of easy to read, understand and SEE what she is talking about. She provides photos of what she is talking about so you can associate the technique with what it should and shouldn't look like.
She will help you understand your DSLR, learn the techniques and also help you find your creative side too with angles, spacing, etc. It really is a great resource.
If you don't take my word for it, here's a bit about the ebook from Katie herself:
"What I truly love about photography, is the ability to capture the story of my own family. I treasure the pictures that I have of my kids, our interactions together, and their sweet personalities.  It’s so important to me to be able to document their lives (and our life), in this way. I want to offer all the information I have in my repertoire so that others can create an album of treasured memories to last a lifetime.

The book is geared toward the person who owns a digital slr. (The kind of camera that has interchangeable lenses.)  But it's also beneficial to the person who has a point and shoot. I start out teaching (in simple, easy to understand terms) what exposure, aperture and shutter speed is all about, how they relate and why they are so important to understand. I talk about camera and lenses and why I use what I use. I discuss camera settings, lighting, composition and I even walk through my whole editing process. I’ve included tons of pictures that will help the reader follow along very easily. Overall it’s a great resource for anyone who just wants to learn how to take better pictures."
 HOW TO WIN!!!
Simply follow her blog  and  leave a comment here telling me you did so

A little Scraps and Scribbles Swap

Courtney from Scraps and Scribbles contacted me about being one of her "Who's that" features. We decided to do a swap so I could introduce YOU to her too! What I have found out that is that we have a lot in common regarding the projects we like to do.

You can read all about me over on her blog today. In the meantime, let me introduce you to Courtney!
-----------------------

I'm jumping up and down excited to be visiting with you all today over here at the Brassy Apple!!  I'm a huge fan of Megan's.

In case you're wondering who this girl is, I'm Courtney from Scraps and Scribbles.  That's me with my wonderful little family.

I've been married to my wonderful husband for just over 5 years.  We have one 2-year-old little boy, who I have the wonderful privilege of staying home with, and one bun in the oven : ) We live in sunny Florida, and love it.  When I'm not spending time with my son or taking care of my responsibilities as a housewife, things like cleaning and the laundry, I like to craft, sew, cook/bake and take pictures.  I'm a big fan of DIY decor and ways to dress up my home on the cheap.  I'm also the creative mind behind D Squared Creations, my Etsy shop that I run with my sister-in-law where we sell our pretty creations.  It's full of fun vintage finds and pretty jewelery to dress up your outfits.  I love fashion and make-up and sharing what I find.  If you'd like to know more about me, you can check out the About Me page over at my blog.

As I mentioned, I dabble in home decor and I love finding inexpensive ways to dress up my home.

This photo collage star is one of my favorite projects.  I get compliments on it often when we have guests.

I love photography.  I fell in love as a child and that love grew in high school through an awesome photo class (and equally awesome teacher) and have been a shutterbug ever since.  I have a little photography business that allows me to work when I want and still be able to be home with my son.  I started by doing a wedding as a gift to a friend 7 years ago and it has just grown from there.  I do everything from cute babies to families to engagements.  This is my good friend and her beautiful family back in December-I shot some pictures for them for Christmas.

One of my goals when I started my blog was to become better at sewing.  My Anthro-inspired ruffle tee was one of my very first endeavors and I loved it!

My purple rosette tee is my latest sewing project-I've had a problem with my t-shirts getting holes in them.

One of the things I looked forward to once we bought our house was being able to have a garden.  These Silverware Garden Markers are super-easy to make.  I'll be making more to go in my garden.

One of the things I try to do, not only with my blog but also with my every day life, is to keep things simple.  I made this wreath with interchangeable embellishments so I wouldn't have a pile of wreaths lying around.

I do a weekly segment where I share tips and tricks.  One of my favorite series was the one I did on make-up (one of my passions)-you can check out my video tutorial on how to do up your whole face in 10 minutes.

I also do a weekly segment called Fashion Fridays where I share fun fashion finds, from trends I love to pretty clothes.  And my love for shoes : )

Thanks so much for letting me come by today and share a bit of me and my blog with your lovely readers, Megan!  I hope you all come by Scraps and Scribbles and say hi-I'd love to meet you!

My photo Friday....High School

(Each Friday I share a photo(s) I have taken during the week or recently. I enjoy taking pictures for fun and capturing what I see through the lens when inspired to do so. The photos can be business or family related, from my personal life or just from the everyday. Enjoy My Photo Friday)

After speaking on a panel at Creative Estates to a room full of business women/bloggers this past weekend, I switched gears for a second panel - High School students. A local high school asked me to speak to their Business Legion with 3 other local internet business owners. It was a good experience and kuddos to those kids who are thinking about this now and being pro-active about it. Thanks for the invite! I hope I shared some usable, practical information with you.

Colors and Patterns from Arizona.....

It's been fun to blog hop around and see all the fun, photos and perspective from the attendees of the Creative Estates Conference this past weekend.

Since I took a slew of pictures I thought it would be fun to share some of the colorful and out of the norm shots I captured. If I had been thinking of doing this post I would have done a better job of capturing more but alas I did not..........enjoy!

Adore it.....

Want it.....

Make it.... (seriously. How many of us thought - I can make that! tee he hee)

Love it! (the girl, the ensemble, the look. she's good...)

Snippets - Creative Estates Conference

How do you sum up 4 days in Arizona surrounded by creative, inspiring women who have the same passion for things that you do? Well.....you  don't. Not in 1 single post anyway.  BUT to spare you ALL the details and ALL the pictures I will share some snippets with unrelated photos in between.

(the ladies I flew in with - Lara, Kami and Jen. Becki graciously picked us up and ALL our luggage!)

Melanie - "It's all a journey you are on. It's not right or wrong. Just enjoy."
Ashley - starts the day with "We are going to make something great today!"

(Met up with some ladies from my ebay days - Wendy, Me, Erin, Heather, Jen)
Shey - "Focus on your business and not what others are doing."
Lara - "There is a difference between creating and creativity."

(Ladies "local" to me that I had been dying to meet! Char, Rebecca, Me, Amy)
Becky - "Get it down on paper. Feel up the real estate in your head. That makes more room for more ideas and creativity. Then you are not trying so hard to remember what it was later."
Char - "Figure out what your thing IS and do it well."

(Meeting and documenting Becky Higgins "makeover" for her)

(just because I love my polka dot shoes!)
