I love blogging. It's a platform for anyone, anywhere to share whatever they'd like to. From family stuff, to personal struggles to DIY projects, photography and more.
But most blogs you frequent you know what you are going to get right?? You go there for a specific reason because they have a specific theme - fashion, sewing, home schooling, travel, motherhood, etc.
I feel like I go in and out of this "focus or theme". Or maybe I never really had one - LOL! I'd love to be known for something and people tell me all the time I am but then I second guess myself when creating or sharing a post. Does it really go with my blog? Should I not post this? Should I switch my focus?
My problem is I enjoy doing too many things. There I said it - admitting you have a problem is the first step right? :) I enjoy learning and trying and new things. And at different times of the year my interests change. Not to mention I have young kids at home so as they grow their interests are changing and how I raise, entertain and create memories with them changes as well.
*sigh*......thoughts/opinions?
I do have some new ideas and you may notice a new direction....or you may not. I will still be doing what I love to do - I just may slowly phase out some other things and give more emphasis to others. We shall see. It's all about "creating yourself....not finding yourself" and I think I am constantly changing!! ha ha ha - sometimes it's a risk to try something new / change things up / or take a leap - but I would rather say I tried than have and went for it then to have not done anything at all!
I found this on Pinterest and it sums up what I've been feeling about blogging and what direction to go in or what action to take.....BUT it goes waaaay beyond blogging ;)
So - GO after what you want - ASK (it can't hurt!) - and PUT one foot in front of the other!
Make it a great day!!!!

My blog goes in many directions as well. It's WHO I AM. I don't just do one thing. I do try to keep it focused by sticking to 5 main subjects and then posting new topics for those subjects on the same day each week. That's the best I can do. Isn't variety the spice of life? I say do what feels right to you. It's seems to be working for you, so why change it now?
ReplyDeleteI feel like this too Megan - I stop and quetion and reevaluate every so often. I like to do some many different things that I understand what you mean!! In your case though you are sooo crazy talented, that no matter what you do, we're going to love it! ;) So I'd say go for what makes you happy!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Deedra! It's easy to get caught up in blog stats, numbers, branding, getting ahead ,etc but that can be sooo tiring! and no fun!
ReplyDeleteBEV! thanks for stopping by and leaving your thoughts! :) Do what you love right? we all have a different "mission" in life.....I hope I can be successful at mine!
ReplyDeletethanks for this post! I am still so unsure about blogging! And I keep trying to get a focus! But I still feel lost!!
ReplyDeleteI too have a many directions on my blog. I think variety is what makes blogs so interesting. I always need to remind myself I created the blog for my creative expression. Keep at it...I love following you.

You know, my whole take on it is that it's your blog. Write about what YOU WANT to write about. That's it. Truly Lovely is all over the place as far as a niche... But it's about me and my sister and what we enjoy. So 'all things lovely' it is. :)
