This is one of my kids favorite summer traditions! You may have caught my post about it last year.
We host a kids neighborhood dance party to kick off Summer when school is out but you could host one of your own anytime in the Summer!
My kids make the invite list, pick a theme, help deliver the invites, help decorate and shop/make the party treats! They are in charge and they love it!
We ended up with almost 50 kids having a ball in our backyard!
Besides music and dancing we also had a photobooth set up which was REALLY fun and popular!
We set up a backdrop with some fun props - glasses, signs, hats, sunglasses, mustaches and more. Then a tripod and point and shoot camera with 1 adult manning that "station" throughout the party. Several of the kids switched up their looks and had more than 1 photo taken!
And I even snagged some of my friends as they dropped off their kids to get in the photobooth with me!
We always do simple treats since the adults don't stay - just the kiddos!
One of the ways we brought the "beach" theme to life was by wrapping our back porch pillars to look like palm trees! Super easy with some crepe paper, posterboard and balloons!
So dancing, music and a photobooth but that's not all! We had kids from ages 3 - 14 and not everyone wants to dance all the time. We bought several bottles of bubbles and set them out as a bubble blowing station.
and we cleared away some space on the patio for chalk drawing. Plus there was the swing set to play on and also the sand box to play in.
The kids liked it best when we did group dances like the Macarena
of course the LIMBO and other dances like YMCA, the chicken dance, the hamster dance, ghostbusters and forming a train and snaking around the yard and in and out of hula hoops. We also incorporated freeze dance and girls only and boys only!
After all the hoopla we had a small favor for our guests to take with them as they left.
So invite the neighborhood over and have a great time! BUT be sure to snap and share a photo with me!
