Hi there! I'm Stacey. I blog over at Boy, Oh Boy, Oh Boy! about sewing, crafting, and activities to keep my three boys busy. With the Olympics just a few weeks away, we're busy getting ready to hold a neighborhood Olympics of our own. What better way to get us in the mood than an Olympic Ring T-Shirt.
Here's how to make one of your own
Supplies:
Scrap of white cotton fabric
Fabric Marking Pen
Red, yellow, green, blue, and black embroidery thread
Embroidery hoop
Child's knit t-Shirt
Fusable Webbing such as Steam-A-Seam
Step 1: Using a water soluble, fabric marking pen, trace around a 2 inch diameter circle to create the Olympic rings symbol. You need 5 interlocking circles.
Step 2: Insert your fabric scrap into the embroidery ring, and using a running stitch, embroider each circle in the corresponding colors.
Step 3: Trim down your fabric creating an even rectangle. Follow the package instructions to create an applique using your fabric and the Steam-A-Seam. Be sure to check that your Olympic rings are facing the correct direction. The image should START with the blue ring at the top left. Not as pictured above.
Step 4: Using a satin or other decorative stitch, attach the applique to the t-shirt.
And there you have it. A shirt that will announce your Olympic excitement. My boys will be decked out in style as the dash across the finish line next week. If you're interested in more boy sewing, crafting, or "keep em' busy" type activities, I'd love for you to stop by Boy, Oh Boy, Oh Boy! Make sure you drop me a line and let me know you're stopping over from Brassy Apple's Skills of Summer. Thank you so much for letting me share today, Megan. It's been a blast!
