DIY fairy garden

One of the Summer projects my Daughter and I tackled was creating a fairy garden. She frequently builds fairy houses in the bushes and flower beds with the surrounding foliage so I thought it would be fun to create one that is a bit more lasting.

We thought about creating it in a pot and planting some neat plants around it but it just seemed too small. So we took to the garden! I first brought up the idea and found a few pins that would inspire her by creating this Fairy Pinterest board here. Then I gathered a bunch of supplies that she could use and then let her create it, encouraging her as she went!

Some of the supplies that we used were: 2 wooden bird houses we had on hand that my kids had painted previously, popsicle sticks, clothespins, small glass bubbles, bamboo skewers, moss, shredded bark, rocks and mostly LOTS of plants and flowers from around the yard. That was the really fun part!

So in our vegetable garden this Summer we have a small fairy village. A little bit of magic.

One even has it's own garden....

There is a crystal clear stream that runs past the fairy houses complete with a bark bridge...
She even created a little table in the yard for "tea" and a larger flower as an umbrella for shade...
I am so proud of her creativity and all the fun spaces she created within the fairy village. Create a little magic in your own yard. And send me some photos if you do! You'll have fairies in your yard in no time! (wink)
