When I vacationed this summer and took a "break" we ended up crafting with all the little cousins and to keep from "working" I only captured a few photos on my phone camera.
Epic the movie was in the Theaters and I have some fairy loving kids already so after a trip to the $1store we had a fun craft project for the afternoon!
DIY $1 store Fairies
Here's the before as they came right out of the $1 store box
We snagged some flowers while we were there and some different green plants like ivy, etc.
With a glue gun, some supplies on hand like rhinestones, markers and nail polish we transformed them in nature fairies!
Because we were using a hot Glue Gun the smaller kids placed the items where they wanted them and we (the moms) glued them in place.
*tip - glue the shoes on too so you don't lose them!*
The most dramatic and more fun transformations were the ones for the boy cousins!! We started with the same girl fairy dolls (yes we did!) and transformed them into boy fairies or "leaf men" was the term we used like in the Movie Epic.
Not to bad right?
We used the fake greenery from the $1 store to cover their outfits, gave them a haircut and made their wings a bit more "manly".
We used some markers and nail polish to create the markings on their face just for fun!
HOURS of fun for everyone! Not only creating them with the kids and then adding little touches and then adding more (the kids got more ideas they longer they played) and then building fairy houses or gardens in the flower bed - it was well worth the $1 we spent on buying the dolls.
And super fun for me to help in the process of transforming them!
So easy to get creative at the $1 store! And just because it's a girl doll doesn't mean it has to stay a girl doll (wink!)
