Sweatshirt Refashion knockoff - EASY!

I bought a Cream sweater from Aeropostale HERE that was open in the back and I love it.
I then decided this would be a great DIY, and it is OH so easy.

Things you need.
  1. Sweatshirt
  2. Scissors
  3. Ribbon
  4. Needle and thread
  5. Small safety pin
Fold your sweatshirt in half and run over the crease with your hand
or you could Iron it to make a line.
Open your shirt back up and  place your shirt front side down and cut up the back
all the way up your creased line
*just cut the back part of your sweater.
 Cut off the collar.
Over lap the two top corners and hand stitch them together.
Cut a piece of your ribbon and tie a bow tack the bow with  a needle and thread.
put your safety pin through the back of the bow.
Now  Pin it to your shirt, this way you can take it off when you want to wash it,
or you could change to different colored  bows.

Or you could add other fun things like Pom Poms.
I hope you have a fantastic Monday
Lots of <3

  1. Very cool! I've linked to your tutorial on Craft Gossip: http://sewing.craftgossip.com/tutorial-open-back-sweatshirt-refashion/2014/02/24/ (link is scheduled to go live in about an hour)

  2. I love this idea!! I was originally looking for something to do with a TON of old mens button up shirts. Do you think this could work with those, as well? Maybe in addition to making them tank-tops?? I'm horrible with styling, and considering the fact that I LOVE this idea of yours, I figured I'd ask your (expert) opinion. <3

    1. I saw go for it! It never hurts to try one if you have plenty on hand to play around with! :)
